Farmers of the Sea

This time of the year is peak season for creamy Port Stephens rock oysters and on August 12, forty local oyster growing families will come to town as part of the Farmers of The Sea expo on D’ALBORA Marinas Nelson Bay from 10am-2pm. Highlights include Oyster 101 with the growers; an Oyster Shucking Competition that sees local celebrities take on the experts. You won’t find fresher than freshly shucked and whole oysters, straight from the leases, at the tasting stalls of local oyster growers. Even The Morrisons Bar & Oyster Room in Sydney serves our local Port Stephens Oysters.

Sean Connolly’s favourite oyster dishes will also feature on the menu, including Southern Fried Oyster Tacos, Oyster Omelette, Steamed Jurassic Oyster and Carpet Bag steak – you would be shucking crazy not to pop in!
